The elective residency visa allows entrance into Italy to individuals with high self-sustaining incomes and financial assets who have a real necessity to stably residing in Italy and who can demonstrate a steady and adequate income (not from subordinate work) and other financial resources. This visa is issued solely to those applicants who are planning to move permanently to Italy and it does not allow the recipient to work.
Applicants should always appear in person. All documents must be printed out and presented in original plus a photocopy where required.
Processing times for this kind of visa might take up to 90 days.
Applicants must provide:
- National Application form duly completed and signed;
- One passport size color photo, white background, maximum 6 months old (see specifications);
- A valid passport (and a copy) satisfying the following criteria:
- its validity must be at least three months longer then the visa requested;
- it must contain at least two blank pages;
- it must have been issued within the previous 10 years;
Damaged passports will not be accepted.
- Copy of a valid French permit of stay with at least 3 months residual validity;
- A copy of the previous French D visa, and any other Schengen visa;
- Proof of suitable accommodation in Italy. Only the following documents are accepted:
– Registered rental agreement of a property in Italy;
– Ownership of a property in Italy. - Documented and detailed proof of extensive substantial and steady economic resources deriving from private incomes (pensions or annuities), properties, revenues from securities or stable entrepreneurial activities. The aforementioned financial resources must be available regardless of the daily work activity and therefore revenues originating from self-employment or subordinate job activities cannot be considered.
In order to prove the compliance to this requirement, the applicant must provide official and reliable documents, such (but not limited to) company’s certified audited balances, documents originating from the bank proving the existence of security revenues, properties title deeds, rental agreements of properties owned, company licenses, etc…
The minimum amount for the economic resources provided in « Table A » of the Directive of the Ministry of the Interior of 1.3.2000 (approximately 31,000 euros), is only one of the parameters that will be considered, and is to be considered a starting point to assess the possession of the extensive economic resources that the applicant must prove, as this specific visa is aimed at an audience of subjects with very high economic and patrimonial availability. - In addition to the documents to be provided at point 7, the applicant must always include:
– Last 12 months pay slips (if any);
– Last 12 months personal bank account statements;
– Last 12 months credit card statements;
Bank Statement should be on a bank letterhead. - An international medical insurance covering the entire stay with a minimum of 30.000 € coverage and full and unlimited coverage for hospitalization. Emergency repatriation flight as well as repatriation of mortal remains must be included. Detailed table of benefit must be provided;
- Confirmed flight reservation or an itinerary.
- Visa fee is 116€ (only exact change in cas is accepted).
